Day 1 – Fes to Merzouga via Azrou, Midelt & Erfoud [467 km]
Pick-up from your hotel or Riad marks the start of your 4-day, 3-night desert adventure. Head south to Azrou via Ifrane, often called the “Little Switzerland of Morocco,” and journey through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop at the cedar forest to see Barbary apes and capture stunning photos.
After lunch, continue through the lush Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and finally Merzouga. Upon arrival, enjoy a warm cup of tea and settle in for your overnight stay at a hotel or Riad.
Day 2 – Explore Merzouga & Camel Trek (Overnight in Desert Camp) [45 km]
Start the day with breakfast before visiting a local village inhabited by people from Mali to experience their music and way of life. Next, explore Miffis Mines to see traditional mining operations, then venture into the dunes for breathtaking desert views. Share a warm cup of tea with local Bedouins before returning to the hotel.
Later, your guides will provide tips for camel riding, after which you’ll embark on a magical journey through the Erg Chebbi sand sea, culminating in an overnight stay in a traditional Berber tent under the stars.
Day 3 – Merzouga to Todra Gorges & Dades Valley [255 km]
Wake up early to witness a spectacular desert sunrise over Morocco’s highest dunes, with shifting shadows and colors painting the sand. After breakfast, continue toward Tinghir and the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge, one of the tallest and narrowest gorges in the country.
Take time to hike, relax by the river, or sample local Berber delicacies. After lunch, drive through the scenic Dades Valley, ending the day with an overnight stay in a charming hotel perched atop the mountains.
Day 4 – Dades Valley to Fes via Ziz Valley & Midelt [472 km]
After a hearty local breakfast, begin your return journey to Fes. Travel through Todra Gorge and the Ziz Valley, stopping at panoramic viewpoints for tea and breathtaking scenery.
Continue north through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing nomadic settlements with goat-hair tents. Stop at the cedar forests to feed playful Barbary monkeys, and enjoy a coffee break in the alpine town of Ifrane. By late afternoon, arrive back in Fes, concluding your unforgettable desert adventure.
