Day 1: Marrakech » Atlas Mountains » Zagora (Camel Trek & Desert Camp) [355 km]
Your desert journey begins in the morning as we leave the bustling streets of Marrakech behind and climb into the winding roads of the High Atlas. Crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters, the scenery unfolds into terraced fields, rushing streams, and tiny Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides.
Midway, we stop to explore the legendary ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortress of mudbrick towers that has stood for centuries and inspired countless filmmakers. Continuing past Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Desert,” we drive through the rugged Anti-Atlas before entering the lush Draa Valley, a ribbon of palms and ancient kasbahs stretching deep into the south.
By late afternoon we arrive in Zagora, where a caravan of camels is ready to lead you into the desert. As the sun dips below the dunes, you’ll ride across golden sands to your desert camp. Tonight is pure magic: a traditional dinner by the fire, nomadic music, and an endless sky filled with stars.
Day 2: Zagora Desert » Ouarzazate » Ait Ben Haddou » Marrakech [377 km]
Wake up to the stillness of the Sahara and watch the sunrise paint the dunes in shades of gold and red. After breakfast, we retrace the path through the Draa Valley, its villages and palm groves glowing in the morning light.
Crossing the dramatic landscapes of the Djebel Saghro mountains, we make our way back toward Ouarzazate, with time to revisit the cinematic backdrops and kasbahs that make this town so unique. The return journey takes us once more across the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where sweeping mountain views lead us back to Marrakech. You’ll arrive in the evening, carrying with you the unforgettable memories of the desert and its timeless silence.
